SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS ASSOCIATION FIELD TRIPS/WORKSHOPS/EVENTS

The San Juan Mountains Association is pleased to offer its 2003 summer workshops, events and seminars. The association is dedicated to enhancing the understanding and enjoyment of public lands in Southwest Colorado through hands-on learning and volunteering experiences.

By participating in a program or workshop, you’ll have the opportunity for education and adventure while enjoying the incredible beauty of the San Juan Mountains. This summer, empower yourself with knowledge of our natural world.

Bird ID workshop—Free!

Beginning bird identification. Consists of two in-class workshops followed by a Saturday morning bird walk.

Saturday, May 10; 7am-11am Pastorius reservoir

Weed Walks—Free!

Learn how to identify noxious weeds and ways of eradication. Tours led by Rod Cook, county weed manager.

Durango Basketmakers—Free!

Ms. Mona Charles, Field Director of the Fort Lewis College Anthropology Department will speak on the early efforts to investigate the Basketmakers in the Durango area.

Wednesday, May 21; 7pm, a welcome reception for Ms. Charles will be held at 6pm; Public Lands Center, 15 Burnett Ct.

Hike, Lunch and Wine with a Llama

Interpretive hike with Lois the Llama lady and her llamas. Enjoy wine and cheese and a scenic lunch along the way. All tours held at Durango Mountain Resort. $30/person; $50/couple.

Tour de Fat

New Belgium brewery sponsored bike and beer fest. Proceeds benefit the San Juan Mountains Association.

Oktoberfest

The San Juan Mountains Association teams up with Steamworks for an afternoon of games, festivities and an "umpah" band. Proceeds benefit the San Juan Mountains Association.
