Vallecito Lake (“vie-uh-see-toe”) is surrounded by the San Juan National Forest and is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The reservoir is known for its fishing and boating, but there are many other fun activities, including horseback riding, hiking, 4-wheeling and camping. A favorite with locals and visitors alike, Vallecito offers plenty of fun, scenery and good places to eat. There are quaint cabins, resorts, motels, RV parks, campgrounds, marinas, dude and guest ranches with fully equipped guide services in this mountain valley.

The Vallecito area is ideal for camping, and
there are several sites near the lake. Call the

June 11-12 – Fire on the Mountain is a musical event with an art auction, music and food to benefit Country Kids with Cancer. Entertainment includes
cowboy poet/artist Bill"Three Feathers" Bunting, and several family
bluegrass bands from the
Southwest, including the Howard Cattle Company from Bayfield.
Jul 2-3 – The Vallecito Service League's 22nd Annual Arts and Crafts Show features 75 arts, crafts and food vendors
and handmade, original
art.
