All advertising should be in good taste. Copy or illustrations considered offensive or misleading to the public will be refused. The Durango Herald is not responsible for the content of advertising – that is solely the responsibility of the advertiser. We will refuse ads that we consider to be discriminatory or in violation of any law.
Advertising Accuracy
The Durango Herald assumes no financial responsibility for errors beyond the cost of the actual space occupied by the error. We will issue credit for the error in the first insertion only when notified within 30 days. The Durango Herald shall not be liable for any loss which results from omission or inaccuracies of advertising.
Brokered Advertising
The Durango Herald does not accept brokered advertising.
Position
Although position is not guaranteed, The Durango Herald will attempt to meet requests. The Durango Herald will not accept ads with a position requirement or cancel provision. Classified display advertisements will be grouped as closely as possible to desired classification, subject to the dictates of mechanical requirements.
News-Style Ads
Advertising simulating news-style copy must carry “advertisement” in 12-point Helvetica type across the top of every two columns. Type styles and page designs may not mimic those of The Durango Herald news pages. Type styles must be sans serif.
Multi-Businesses
Contract advertisers are entitled to a single rate for their businesses. One bill per business will be issued. This applies to contract advertisers only.
Nonprofit Status
A nonprofit company is defined as tax-exempt, has a tax number and is not tax-supported. No political advertising.
Political/Issue Advertising
Political/Issue advertising is available, net and non-commissionable at our local rates. Cash must be submitted with order. All regulations on political advertising apply. Ads must include “Paid for by ...” with a name and phone number, and address. Ask for our political rate card for guidelines. |

effective. We provide free ad design to all advertisers in our papers.
Photographs
We have the latest in photographic equipment and our staff will arrange to take photos. Adequate notice is required. We are not responsible for lost or damaged customer-provided photographs.
Tear Sheets
Furnished upon request. Limits apply.
Proofs
Ad proof requests can usually be met but can’t be guaranteed. When a request is made, The Durango Herald will honor it whenever possible. |
